(September 30th, 2023) WASHINGTON D.C. - Today, Congressman Tom Kean, Jr. (NJ-07) supported the House passage of H.R. 5860, legislation which will fund the government for 45 days and avoid a government shutdown. This legislation provides a short-term fix to allow additional time for the House to complete its work in funding the government. This legislation includes $16 billion in disaster funding which will benefit communities like Warren County, which suffered devastating flooding earlier this year. Congressman Kean, Jr. made the following statement:
“From the beginning of this debate I did not support shutting down the government, and I am encouraged that Republicans and Democrats worked together to get this done. Today we came together to keep government open, pay our troops, and fully fund disaster relief so places like Warren County will have the vital resources they need. These priorities are not political bargaining chips, and with today’s achievement I will continue to fight for fiscal responsibility.”
