In Congress, it is my job to fight for the best interests of the hardworking individuals and families who call our state home. One critical issue that continues to burden our residents is the cap on the State and Local Tax Deduction (SALT), estimated to impact more than 425,000 families across the state. I fought for and achieved a full restoration of the State and Local Tax (SALT) deduction for every middle-class family in New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District.

“Community Project Funding requests are an important way to send much needed federal dollars back home to New Jersey,” said Congressman Kean. “From supporting our police to improving aging infrastructure, I am excited to share the 15 community projects selected for consideration in the FY2025 appropriations process. I will continue to fight in Congress to get this funding across the finish line, so we can improve lives in the Garden State.”

I was in Raritan Borough to award $2.275 Million in Community Project Funding for the refurbishment of the Raritan Police Department. From enhancing infrastructure to improving public safety and more, this federal grant will make great strides in addressing the unique needs of Raritan Borough, and make a real difference in people’s lives.

Undersea cables are the lifeline of global communications, carrying data quickly and securely across continents. While our nation maintains a competitive edge in the deployment and development of these cables, China seeks to expand its influence over one of the world’s most important communications networks. We must protect these cables from foreign interference, sabotage, or control by our adversaries. I am grateful to my colleagues in the House for passing this important legislation and look forward to its consideration in the U.S. Senate and its eventual signing into law.

Chairwoman Lisa McClain kicked off the first stop of her national tour right here in New Jersey’s 7th District, where she joined me at Bihler of America, a family-owned manufacturer that’s been producing high-quality, American-made products for nearly 50 years. We spoke with company leadership about challenges like rising costs and workforce shortages, and how provisions in the reconciliation bill—like no tax on overtime, expanding R&D tax credits, and restoring SALT relief for middle-class families—will help support their employees and strengthen the industry.
