(January 10, 2023) WASHINGTON, D.C. — Rep. Tom Kean, Jr. (R-NJ) issued the following statement after voting in favor of the Establishing the Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party (H. Res. 11)

“The Chinese Communist Party’s influence is the single greatest threat to our country today, and the United States needs to implement tough policies to protect our citizens, our military, and our IP from their aggression. The work of this bipartisan select committee will lay important groundwork to ensure our county prevails in the face of our global adversaries today, and for years to come.”

The mission of this bipartisan committee will be to provide policy recommendations on how the U.S. can restore supply chains and end critical economic dependencies on China, strengthen our military, end the Chinese Communist Party’s theft of American personal data and intellectual property and contrast the Chinese Communist Party’s techno-totalitarian state with the values of the Free World.
