(March 13, 2024) WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Tom Kean, Jr. (NJ-07) issued the following statement after voting YES on H.R. 7521, the Protecting Americans From Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications.
“I voted in favor of the Protecting Americans From Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act today because this is the best effort to date to protect Americans from potential threats posed by foreign adversaries, particularly the Chinese Communist Party's influence over applications such as TikTok. It is Congress’ duty to safeguard the privacy and security of our citizens in the digital realm. This legislation is not about banning TikTok outright; rather, it demands that TikTok sever ties with the Chinese government or else risk prohibition in the United States. I am encouraged that the bill received overwhelmingly bipartisan support.” - Congressman Tom Kean, Jr.
