Kean Honors Suzie Hanna on House Floor, Calls for Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Awareness

November 20, 2024

(November 20, 2024) WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Tom Kean, Jr. (NJ-07) spoke on the House floor, honoring the life and legacy of Bridgewater resident Suzan “Suzie” Marie Hanna, who tragically passed away from carbon monoxide poisoning. Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless, and tasteless gas that can be deadly.

Suzie, who had just celebrated her 30th birthday the weekend before Hurricane Ida, was driving home from her job in Flemington to the Bradley Gardens section of Bridgewater when the storm struck. On September 2, 2021, she lost her life in Raritan Township, caught in the devastating floodwaters caused by the storm.

In her honor, Congressman Kean introduced a resolution designating November 20th, 2024, as Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Awareness Day. This resolution aims to raise awareness of the risks associated with carbon monoxide exposure and to prevent further tragedies like Suzie’s. Congressman Kean spoke on the House floor, watch HERE.
