Kean Accepting 2024 Service Academy Nominations Applications

June 3, 2024

(June 3, 2024) WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Tom Kean, Jr. (NJ-07) announced his office is now accepting applications for Service Academy Nominations. Congressman Kean invites students from New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District who wish to pursue an education at one of four service academies to apply for a Congressional nomination to the Service Academy.

"The Service Academies have long been heralded as institutions of excellence, where young men and women are transformed into not only exceptional military officers, but also well-rounded individuals prepared for a lifetime of leadership,” said Congressman Kean. “I encourage any high school student who is interested in any of the military academies to apply.”

Receiving a nomination from a Congressional office is the first step in the process of attending a service academy, including the United States Military Academy at West Point, the United States Naval Academy, the United States Air Force Academy, and the United States Merchant Marine Academy. The United States Coast Guard Academy does not require a congressional nomination. A congressional nomination does not guarantee admission. If an individual receives a nomination from a Congressional office, they must also receive an appointment from the service academy.

The Academies require applicants be a U.S. citizen, unmarried with no dependents, between the ages of 17-23, and of good moral character.

The deadline to apply is Friday, October 18, 2024.
