Contact: Dan Scharfenberger
(March 19, 2024) BRIDGEWATER, NJ – Today, Congressman Tom Kean, Jr. (NJ-07) recognized local Vietnam veterans by presenting them with the Vietnam War Commemoration Lapel Pin in honor of their service.
In partnership with the United States Vietnam War Commemoration Program, a program authorized by Congress, Congressman Kean honored living U.S. veterans residing in NJ-07 who served on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces at any time between November 1, 1955, and May 15, 1975. These veterans, who were honored, served in various capacities during the Vietnam War period, including in-country, in-theater, or stationed elsewhere.
“It is an extraordinary privilege to present local veterans with a lapel pin, as a symbol of our nation’s gratitude towards their sacrifice and service,” said Congressman Kean. “We are forever indebted to our veterans, who fought for what this country stands for – freedom. Congratulations to all the veterans honored today, thank you, and welcome home.”
"Bridgewater American Legion Post 0327 is very excited to host Congressman Kean's Vietnam Veterans Commemoration Program,” said Vice Commander Randy Levine. “We enjoyed meeting the men and women who served during the Vietnam War era and welcoming them to our post."
Established in 2008, the United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration honors veterans of the Vietnam War for their heroic service and pays tribute to their selfless contributions.
In attendance was Deacon Keith Gibbons of Westfield, who provided an invocation for the ceremony, Bridgewater Mayor Matt Moench, who led the Pledge of Allegiance, as well as representatives from area Veterans Command Posts.
